Why is water so important?
Out of all the world’s water only 2.5% of it is freshwater and out of that freshwater 99% of it is frozen or underground leaving only 0.025% of it accessible to all living things on the Earth. It is vital that we do our part by recycling water to the greatest extent to create more dependable and locally controlled water sources and provide significant environmental benefits.
Earthfix will use effective dewatering solutions to recycle Class A water from vacuum excavation muds. This solution will allow up to 100% of the material from the muds to be recovered, processing the waste practically and cost-effectively. We will also extract the water from our green energy plant’s process once we have generated energy from it.
The recycled water will be reused to:
- Fill/refill outgoing trucks with industry compliant recycled water ensuring millions of litres of portable water is not taken from the water main, ensuring extremely sustainable reuse of water
- Wash down the vacuum trucks as well as other various machinery
- In our recycling processes
- And dust suppression,
Conforming with the QLD recycled water management plan. This enables a broader range of more difficult waste streams to be processed. Our customers will also highly benefit from the added value of utilising a sustainable water source and at the same time save costs and improve transport time by filling up the trucks with recycled water at the same facility they are disposing of the mud.
The project has the flexibility to improvements, if necessary, to increase the scope of usage such as unrestricted irrigation. Earthfix will provide a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable disposal and waste recycling that is not widely available.
The water project is 60% completed and next is to begin the final digging of our water reserve pond in the coming months, which will bring us to approximately 80% complete.
